Just in time for the holidays. Steve looks at “Ship in a Click” a new service by Canada Post that allows you to buy postage and fill out all your shipping forms online including customs forms. You'll never have to wait in those long line ups at the post office again. Steve also looks at Windows Live Mail and Windows Live Photo Gallery. On Tech Toys, Caroline checks out the iMep, the ultimate all in one portable multimedia entertainment player.

Other than I can, WHY do you have accounts with passwords to get to your website. As far as I can see its just a waste.

re: password

Good question, and one we've been asked a few times. We committed a tremendous amount of time and resources (read $$$) to creating the website that you currently see. By any measure, it's a huge improvement over the old, static site which we were all very sick of! This is borne out by the traffic: Dotto Tech now gets about a 1000 unique visitors a day - nearly 10 times the number of visitors it got 18 months ago. The increase is - I'm pretty sure - because visitors find the site to be more useful and engaging. Podcasts of current and recent episodes have proven very popular, and were the number one feature we had wanted to add.

Asking people to register is the simplest mechanism we have for measuring both unique podcast views and visitor loyalty in terms of return visits. It provides us with some important metrics that help tell us whether or not we're on the right track with the site. It is also a bit of a quid pro quo - we encourage visitors to post comments and in general contribute to the Dotto Tech community - but doing so carries a small degree of responsibility which we ask you to demonstrate by taking the trouble to create an account.

Comment on the new web site.

I think it is just fantastic. All subjects covered are made simple for all of us to understand, regardless of our knowledge.
Keep up the outstanding work.

Your website

Being a new subscriber I would like to comment on your TV progams. I have been a avid follower of your show and have gained a lot of useful knowledge from them. I have wanted to go to your website for quite a while, but just never seemed to get around to it. From what I have seen so far I am sure that I will be a frequent visitor to your site.
