Feeling overwhelmed with the task of maintaining & protecting your PC?  Steve will take you through Windows Live One Care, a new approach to protection for your computer that's more than just anti-virus software.  Windows Live OneCare will care for all your security and maintenance issues in one easy to manage, and easy to use convenient package.

Steve will also look at a few tools and techniques to help you increase your productivity.  He shows us the difference between the most common email technologies, demonstrates the advantages and disadvantages of such options as POP and web based mail, and helps us choose the best option for our particular lifestyle.  Once you have an email system in place, Steve walks you the next step, choosing a calendar and explains why you need to back it up.

On Tech Toys, Caroline shows us the EAP03 by Tension Labs for the serious audiophile.  EAP03 is an audio amplifier for your personal music device.  It helps boost the audio signal coming out of your player, making your music sound bigger and better than before.

flagging gmail notices into my telusplanet email

Hi, I just caught the tail end of your show yesterday & you were speaking about flagging a notice from gmail to another mail box to notify me that I have a gmail, nstead of having to check both everyday. My other email is through telusplanet. How do I do that?

re: flagging gmail

You can set up one of your email accounts to automatically forward copies (or originals) of all emails to another email address you specify. On the receiving account (the one that you check more regularly) you can set up a rule flagging messages coming from your other email address, making them easier to recognize.

Blocking Senders

Hi, I'm using incredimail and some e-mails despite blocking them I still receive them.. is there anyway to block them for good?

Blocking Senders

I would recommend using the following steps to route all messages from the senders you identify to the junk mail folder:

To send mail from senders you have not approved to the junk folder in IncrediMail automatically:

  • Select Tools | Message Rules... from the menu.
  • Click Add....
  • Make sure the filter reads If Received from unapproved sender then Move it to.
  • Click the ... button.
  • Highlight the Junk Mail folder.
  • Click OK.
  • Click OK again.
  • Click Close.

For my business protection I would scrub old data in my system

I need to protect myself and my business nosy people. I saw a show you did on this matter and need more info please
Thankyou Allan

Scrubbing Data

If it is old hard drives that you are wanting to securely dispose of then I recommend using a utility such as Autoclave (http://staff.washington.edu/jdlarios/autoclave-discontinued/). It is a free utility which sole purpose is to securely erase hard drives. I would recommend using 3 passes when using the program.
