What should I look for when buying a computer?

What matters most when buying a computer?

Hello to all Dotto Tech viewers. I would like to welcome you to my blog. In my blog I plan to answer some of the frequently asked questions I have received from viewers. I am also open to submissions of questions that people would like answers to. Please keep in mind though that I will only be answering questions that a number of people have asked. The fist one that I would like to address is the age old one of “What should I look for when buying a computer”? Today, more than ever, this is not an easy question to answer due to the large number of choices on the market today.

Simply press record and say the name of the item you want and Smartshopper’s voice recognition program will enter the item. Smartshopper then saves your grocery list so you can add items throughout the week. When it’s time to head off to the grocery store simply hit print and get a totally legible shopping list. The Smartshopper can even sort your list into logical categories for convenient shopping, so no more back tracking at the store because you forgot an item.

Everyone knows that when it comes to Music and Graphics you can’t beat a Mac, and one of the most popular computers with students everywhere is Apple’s MacBook. The MacBook handles everything that students have come to expect from Apple – style, grace and a very small footprint. Steve looks at the main features and benefits of this popular notebook. When it comes to working on essays or assignments the MacBook can run a wide range of today’s popular applications such as Microsoft Office, or Apples own Pages and Numbers. It even does Windows!

But when the school work is over, the MacBook really shines.  It comes bundled with Apple’s amazing iLife suite of digital lifestyle applications enriching student life with photos, music, and video, or lets them  cruise the internet using Apple’s popular Safari browser.

Caroline Drury drops in and hooks her X-box 360 up to her Mac using Nullrivers Connect 360 software. The connect 360 lets you use the X-box as a wireless hub to view photos, music and videos on your television that are stored on your Mac

Key Vista Features

I have raved enough in the past about Vista, now it is time to give some credit where credit is due.  While much has been made of the shortcomings in Vista, it is for better or worse will be the operating system for most of the worlds computing population. As we slowly upgrade from older systems, other than the 10% who will choose Mac and the fraction of a percentage of the hardcore users out there bound for Linux, most of us are going to end up using Vista.

There is a lot to like in Microsoft’s new offering. In my opinion the best single aspect of Vista is the indexed searching capability.

More commonly called “Desktop Search” because the nature of indexed searching means that you can find pretty much any file on a system from anywhere, including the desktop.
