On this episode Steve takes us on an Apple adventure. First he introduces us to the slender Mac Book Air, a laptop so thin it fits in a manila envelope. The new notebook features a full-size keyboard and a backlit LED 13.3-inch display. It also ships with a built-in iSight camera, a solid-state drive, and a new larger track pad which supports multi-touch gestures. This means that just like the iPhone, you'll be able to pan around your photos, pinch to zoom in or out, and rotate with only two fingers!
From phones to instant text messaging to video chat, the internet continues to evolve our communication landscape. Steve explains the cost-saving benefits of VOIP, as well as Microsoft's Lifecam webcam, and social networking. Caroline's got the ultimate Tech Toy for serious gamers; custom gaming keyboards by zBoard.
This week we are going to have a little apple show and tell just before christmas, and we are going to start with the iSight/iChat combo. As soon as you connect the camera to the computer and turn it on, iChat AV begins working with the camera. There are no additional drivers to install, no software to configure and no tedious set-up “wizards” standing between you and your first video chat. That means you’ll have your first video chat in seconds, rather than minutes or hours. iChat AV automatically detects iSight and connects with it. Simply open the iSight lens cap and iChat AV automatically launches and lets your buddies know that you are available for video and audio chatting.
