TinyPNG-Making Images Smaller, And More Efficient

TinyPNG Knows. Size. Matters.

When it comes to file compression and the images we host on our websites, size matters and bigger is definitely not always better. Whether we are uploading banners for our social media pages, sending funny pictures to friends, or sharing precious photos with family members, file compression—making files smaller—is something we should always be trying to do more efficiently and more frequently.

What is TinyPNG

TinyPNG, a wonderful and free graphic file compression service, is here to do just that. They will take your big and bulky images and make them small and svelte. Why does size matter for images and graphics? Because the smaller they are the faster they will load and the faster they can be shared or sent! Oh, and don’t worry, TinyPNG works with JPEGs too! You can compress up to 20 images, with a maximum size of 5MB each at a time. Whenever my friend Mike Stelzner, from Social Media Marketing World, and I talk about graphics, he tells me how much he loves TinyPNG, so you know that they come highly recommended!

How To Use TinyPNG

What I especially like about TinyPNG is the compatibility they offer; their tool has a free WordPress PlugIn which automatically optimizes all your graphics on your site and a paid Photoshop PlugIn which allows you to compress your files and export them using TinyPNG right from a menu in Photoshop. Simply put, TinyPNG makes file compression easy, and compressing individual files is the easiest of all; just drag and drop individual or multiple files onto their landing page and those files will be automatically compressed within seconds and you can even save them right to Dropbox. Size matters for file compression, the smaller you can get your images and graphics the faster they will load and the smoother your website will run. I’m going to be using TinyPNG from now on, and I hope you will too.

Until next time, have fun stormin’ the castle…
